THE CHALLENGE
Completing a Modern Front Entry
The front entrance needed a finished, weather-protected porch that would feel intentional and visually connected to the home. During construction, the framing, sheathing, and canopy transitions all required careful coordination.
The new design also needed to complement the existing stucco exterior, black windows, front door, and brick steps while incorporating lighting, durable cladding, and secure handrails without making the entrance feel heavy.
THE SOLUTION
Building a Warm, Modern Porch
We completed the porch canopy and wrapped the entrance in warm vertical wood cladding, creating a sheltered transition between the exterior steps and the front door. The matching wood soffit adds depth and gives the entry a more finished architectural presence.
Contemporary wall lights, black metal railings, and wood handrails were carefully coordinated with the home’s black door and window frames. The new materials complement the existing stucco exterior and brick steps while giving the entrance a clean, modern character.

PROJECT OUTCOME
From an Unfinished Entry to a Welcoming Front Porch
By coordinating the canopy, wood cladding, lighting, railings, and handrails, the unfinished entrance became a complete front porch that feels integrated with the home’s existing exterior.
The finished porch provides a more sheltered and welcoming arrival while the warm wood tones and black metal details give the Newton home a distinctive, modern street presence.
