Before a new building can go up, the old infrastructure must be safely disconnected. At Wow Construction LLC, we are officially kicking off "Project Worcester," a new build condo project in Cambridge, MA.
Today marks Day 1 of the site utility work. We are performing the "Cut and Cap" procedure to prepare the site for demolition and future excavation.

What is a "Cut and Cap"? For anyone unfamiliar with construction terminology, a "Cut and Cap" involves digging up the street to locate the existing utility lines (water, sewer, and gas) that service the property. We physically cut these lines and cap them off at the main street connection.
Why do we do this?
Safety: It ensures there are no live gas or water lines running into the building during demolition.
Code Compliance: The City of Cambridge requires strict adherence to utility standards before a new foundation can be laid.

Coordinating with the City Working in Cambridge requires precise logistics. As you can see, we have secured the necessary permits to close the road and bring in heavy machinery. We work quickly to minimize traffic disruption for the neighborhood while ensuring the excavation is safe for our crew.

Paving the Way for New Condos Once the utilities are safely capped and the trench is backfilled/patched, the site will be ready for the next phase: Demolition. "Project Worcester" will soon transform from an old lot into modern, luxury condominiums.
