Just a few weeks ago, we shared photos of the freshly poured concrete foundation at "Project Columbus." Today, we are thrilled to show you the progress from above!
For this custom home addition in Braintree, MA, our framing crew has been working hard through the New England winter weather. We have successfully completed the structural framing and exterior sheathing, bringing us to a critical milestone: the building is now "weather-tight."

Taking Shape: The Kitchen and Master Suite When you look at a framed structure, you are looking at the skeleton of the home's future lifestyle.
First Floor: Behind those new walls on the ground level is the expanded footprint for a spacious, modern kitchen and a highly requested first-floor powder room.
Second Floor: The upper level will soon house a luxurious master bedroom suite complete with a walk-in closet and a private master bathroom.
Building Science: Why We Use the ZIP System If you look closely at the exterior photos, you will notice the building is covered in green and red panels with taped seams. This is the ZIP System, a premium alternative to traditional plywood and house wrap.
We choose to build with this system for a few logical reasons:
Superior Waterproofing: The panels have a built-in water-resistive barrier. Once we tape the seams, the house is immediately protected from rain and snow.
Energy Efficiency: It creates a continuous air barrier, preventing drafts and making the new kitchen and master suite incredibly energy-efficient to heat and cool.
Winter Construction: Building in Massachusetts during the winter means battling the elements. The ZIP System allows us to seal the home faster so we can move on to interior work without waiting for dry weather.

What’s Next? With the shell completed and protected, our crews are now preparing for the next phases. Up next: roof shingles, window installations, and the start of the interior mechanical rough-ins (plumbing, electrical, and HVAC).
